The Boomtown Institute, Callan Films, and the Mason City Area Chamber of Commerce
teamed up to showcase the community in a special video, depicting Mason City as one of the best places to live, work, and visit in America.  The 13 minute film was produced, filmed, edited, and scored by Emmy-winning filmmaker Craig Lindvahl.  In addition to airing four times per day on public access Channel 4, the video is used by the Chamber, Mason City Economic Development Corporation, and Mason City Convention & Visitors Bureau in community promotion and business recruitment activiaties.  The Chamber purchased 500 DVD copies of the piece and made them available to member businesses for use in professional and executive recruitment.  It has been surprising to us how many citizens purchased the DVDs for personal use following the community premiere.  People are using them as keepsakes for former residents, and even for holiday gifts!  Links to the video are provided on websites hosted by the Chamber, CVB, EDC, City of Mason City, and local newspaper.  Realtors have purchased copies of the DVD for use in acclimating their
clients to the community.

We're grateful to the Boomtown Institute for working with us on this project.  I can't say enough about their responsiveness, professionalism, and skill.  Producer Craig Lindvahl is a true artist.  It's hard to believe he was able to capture the essence of our community and deliver a finished product in seven days!  An added bonus of this experience was the opportunity it provided for two local college students to participate in the project as production assistants.  They benefited immensely from Craig's technical skills.  Trisha Mason from the Boomtown Institute is incredibly organized and had all of the filming contacts made and appointments lined up by the time Craig arrived to scout the location.  She is a delight!

In addition, Craig Lindvahl did a wonderful job of focusing on the things that make our community unique.  The video highlights a sampling of the businesses, attractions, and lifestyle that make Mason City so special.  Our community looks so beautiful and inviting in this film that it gives me goosebumps!  We plan to make the most of this opportunity
to promote North Iowa.

Thank you, Boomtown Institute!
